Overview
IMC Companies is the largest marine drayage provider in the US with a focus on intermodal trucking. They have a fleet of 2200+ drivers and access to the largest network of trucks, allowing them to deliver cargo anywhere. At IMC Companies, a website portal called IMCPower exists to make the management side of dispatching seamless.
Problem
The IMCPower website was in its early development stages and did not consider UX in its design, therefore not being super user friendly or visibly pleasing according to current design trends. IMCPower features were reimagined to improve the overall look and feel of the website.

How might we redesign IMCPower to make it more modernized and intuitive?
Consider streamlining navigation, simplifying layout and incorporating more visual elements to enhance user engagement.
Opportunity Statements
The following opportunity statements were developed by conducting backlog grooming and sprint planning to identify key MVPs (minimal viable products).
With the previous What’s New feature, it was not intuitive where to create an announcement. Additionally, there is a missed opportunity in structuring the hierarchy on the message page where users would understand where to type the message and fill in appropriate sections.
The reset password flow is missing a modern touch and does not consider the user experience for a user, requiring users to go to a different page to complete a password reset. Following modern design trends and UI, a verification code can be added to keep the password reset on the same page for a simplified and improved look and feel.
The current IMCPower tables should be visibly less intense with the green and white striped rows, and modernized so that the table can be mindful of current design trends. The IMCPower table functions are not intuitive and is overall not user friendly.
User flows for in depth features such as Driver ID for the shipment management screens were creted to help visualize a new design for assigning drivers with a drop-down option.

Designs
★ Messaging Board Redesign ★
As an internal user, I would like the What’s New announcement page to adopt the new table designs. I would also like the Create Announcement page to be an action pop up instead of a new page.
Feature Hypothesis: With the messaging board redesign, we believe that users will be able to create new announcements more easily without requiring new pages.

★ Forgot Password Redesign ★
As a power user, I would like a new reset password flow that does not require me to open up a new tab via the email.
Feature Hypothesis: We believe the new password flow will create an easier flow by sending a verification code for confirmation to change the current password.

★ Shipment/Invoice Table Redesign ★
As a power user, I would like a new shipment and invoice management interactive table that looks and feels more modern.
Feature Hypothesis: We believe that with the new table redesigns, the shipment and invoice functions will become more intuitive and improve in functionality.

Sprint Results
During my time on at IMC Companies, I have collaborated with the web app product team including product owners, business analysts, designers, developers and QA assurance. This is a visualization of the work scope (what we want to get done) vs. our completed work (what we got done by end of sprint). I was able to help the IMCPower team complete over 90% of all sprint goals.

Takeaways
Stay updated with design trends
Staying current with design trends is crucial as it enables us to gauge users’ favorable responses and anticipate how these trends will contribute to the success of a product’s user experience.
Not everyone will love your ideas
A designer might not love your ideas if they feel that they don’t align with their creative vision or the overall goals of the project. I have learned to not take it personally and to collaborate ideas for better results.
Be confident when defending your work
Staying confident as a designer involves believing in your abilities and trusting your creative instincts. It also requires a willingness to take risks, learn from mistakes, and continually seek out opportunities for growth and improvement.
